Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers Quality Control Amendment Order 2024 for the Acrylonitrile (Quality Control) Order, 2020.
BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the Acrylonitrile
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued a quality control Amendment Order, 2024, pertaining to Acrylonitrile.
This amendment modifies the Acrylonitrile (Quality Control) Order, 2020, and will be effective from October 24, 2024.
The order applies specifically to Acrylonitrile goods or articles but excludes those intended for export.
It mandates that Acrylonitrile products conform to Indian Standard IS 12540:1988 and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for Acrylonitrile products.
Violations of this order will be subject to punishment under the provisions of the relevant Act.
