Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Lauric Acid Amendment Order, 2024.

BIS Amendment Order for the Lauric Acid

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has introduced the Lauric Acid Amendment Order, 2024, which will take effect on October 24, 2024.

This order is for goods or articles containing Lauric Acid, except those intended for export.

To ensure compliance, Lauric Acid products must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 10931:1984 and carry the Standard Mark, which requires a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as outlined in Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The certifying and enforcing authority for Lauric Acid products under this order is the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Regarding penalties, anyone found in violation of this order will be subject to the provisions of the relevant Act.
