BIS QCO for the Solar Thermal Systems, Devices and Components (All Glass Evacuated Tubes Solar Water Heating System)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has issued a Quality Control Order named the "Solar Thermal Systems, Devices and Components (Quality Control) Order, 2024."

Effective after one hundred and eighty days from its publication in the Official Gazette, this order applies specifically to All Glass Evacuated Tubes Solar Collector within the country, excluding those intended for export.

Under this order, All Glass Evacuated Tubes Solar Collector must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 16544: 2016 which Specifies All Glass Evacuated Tubes Solar Water Heating System and bear the Standard Mark issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for All Glass Evacuated Tubes Solar Collector.

Furthermore, the Bureau, in consultation with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, will conduct market surveillance to ensure compliance with the Indian Standard for goods bearing the Standard Mark.

Non-compliance with this order is subject to punishment under the provisions of sub-section (3) of section 29 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
