BIS QCO for the Insulated Flask, Bottles, and Containers for Domestic Use (Insulated Flask for Domestic Use)

OVERVIEW

The Ministory of Commerce and Industry has issued a Quality Control Order titled the "Insulated Flask, Bottles, and Containers for Domestic Use (Quality Control) Order, 2024."

This order will come into effect three months from the date of its publication, with staggered timelines for compliance based on the classification of enterprises under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006.

Under this order, goods or articles categorized as insulated Flask/Bottles/Containers for domestic use must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 17790:2022 for Insulated Flask for Domestic Use. These products are required to bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Importantly, this order does not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export purposes or those produced by enterprises meeting specific criteria outlined by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

The Bureau of Indian Standards has been designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for the goods or articles covered under this order.

Non-compliance with the provisions of this order will result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
