Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Helmet for Police Force, Civil Defence and Personal Protection (Non- metal helmet for Police Force) (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry issued a Quality Control Order called "Helmet for Police Force, Civil Defence and Personal Protection (Quality Control) Order, 2023," effective six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.

Helmet for Police Force, Civil Defence and Personal Protection must adhere to Indian Standard 9562:1980 (Non- metal helmet for Police Force) and display the Standard Mark through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Order does not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export.

For micro and small enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the Order takes effect twelve months and nine months from the publication date, respectively.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Helmet for Police Force, Civil Defence and Personal Protection covered by this Order.

Violation of this Order is subject to punishment under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
