BIS QCO for the Self-Contained Drinking Water Cooler

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a Quality Control Order titled "Self-Contained Drinking Water Cooler (Quality Control) Order, 2023."

Effective Date: It shall come into force six months from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.

Goods or articles, specifically Self-Contained Drinking Water Coolers, must conform to the corresponding Indian Standard 1475 (Part 1): 2001 and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards in accordance with Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Exceptions:

• This Order does not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export.
• For micro enterprises, as defined under clauses (h) and (m) of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the Order comes into force twelve months from the date of publication of this notification.
• For small enterprises, as defined under clauses (h) and (m) of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), it comes into force nine months from the date of publication of this notification.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for the goods or articles Self-Contained Drinking Water Coolers.

Violation of the provisions of this Order is punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

Implementation Dates: Effective six months after its publication in the official gazette.
The Order applies to micro enterprises, as per the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), twelve months from the date of publication. For small enterprises, under the same Act, it becomes effective nine months from the date of publication.
