BIS QCO For Solar Photovoltaic’s, Systems, Devices and Components Goods

OVERVIEW

The "Solar Photovoltaic’s, Systems, Devices and Components Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2017" was introduced by the Indian Government on September 5, 2017. It covered six products and took effect on September 5, 2018. An amendment was later made on October 12, 2018.

Initially, self-certification for SPV inverters (items 4-5) was extended until June 30, 2023, or until further orders, whichever came first. This extension was confirmed on January 30, 2023.

To address limited testing facilities and allow manufacturers more compliance time, the implementation of the Quality Control Order, 2017 for SPV inverters (items 4-5) has been further extended. The new deadline is now December 31, 2023, or until further orders, whichever comes first. Manufacturers need valid IEC certificates aligned with specified standards (IS 16221(Part 2):2015/IEC 62109-2:2011 for item No 4 and IS 16169:2014/IEC 62116:2008 for item No. 5) and test reports from accredited labs for self-certification, ensuring smooth order implementation.
