BIS QCO for the Bottled Water Dispensers

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has issued a Quality Control Order titled "Bottled Water Dispensers (Quality Control) Order, 2023," effective six months from its publication in the Official Gazette.

Bottled Water Dispensers must adhere to Indian Standard 17681:2022 and display the Standard Mark through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Order does not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export. For micro and small enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the Order takes effect twelve months and nine months from the publication date, respectively.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Bottled Water Dispensers covered by this Order.

Violation of this Order is subject to punishment under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
