Amendment Order for the Copper

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Mines has recently issued this amendment, titled the "Copper (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023," of Indian Standard IS 191:2007 which will be effective upon its publication in the Official Gazette. The provisions of this Order will come into force starting from June 1, 2024.

This order applies to all goods or articles made of copper, excluding those intended for export.

A mandatory requirement outlined in this order is the adherence to the Indian Standard IS 191:2007 for copper goods or articles.

To signify compliance, such products must bear the Standard Mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The certifying and enforcing authority for copper goods or articles is designated as the Bureau of Indian Standards.

This authoritative body will oversee the certification process and ensure adherence to the stipulated standards.
