BIS QCO for the Pumps (Direct Action Hand Pumps)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued the "Pumps (Quality Control) Order, 2023.” This order will come into effect after its publication in the Official Gazette.

Goods or articles falling under the category of Pumps are required to adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard 14106:2018 (Direct Action Hand Pumps). These products must bear the Standard Mark under a license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The order does not apply to goods or articles intended for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Pumps.

Any person found contravening the provisions of this Order will be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

This Quality Control Order aims to ensure that pumps in the market adhere to established standards, promoting the reliability and safety of these essential devices for various applications.
