BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymers

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued an Amendment Order, 2024, pertaining to the quality control of Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymers (EVA).

This amendment modifies the Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymers (Quality Control) Order, 2021, and will be effective from October 3, 2024.

The order applies specifically to EVA Copolymers and mandates that they conform to Indian Standard IS 13601:1993 and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Notably, this order does not extend to goods or articles intended for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for EVA Copolymers.

Violations of this order will be subject to punishment under the provisions of the relevant Act.
