BIS QCO for the Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Homopolymers

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has introduced the Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Homopolymers (Quality Control) Order, 2024, which will take effect after a period of 180 days from its publication in the Official Gazette.

This order applies to Poly Vinyl Chloride goods or articles, excluding those intended for export.

For adherence to quality standards, all Poly Vinyl Chloride goods or articles must conform to the relevant Indian Standard IS 17658:2021, titled "Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Homopolymers Specification." Additionally, they must bear the Standard Mark obtained through a license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards, as outlined in Schedule-ll, Scheme-l of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

To oversee certification and enforcement, the Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing the quality standards pertaining to Poly Vinyl Chloride goods or articles.

Anyone found violating the provisions of this order will be subject to penalties as outlined in the applicable Act.
