BIS QCO for the Steel and Steel Products (Stoppers, caps and lids)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024, which becomes effective upon its publication in the Official Gazette.

It pertains to steel and steel products, specifically Stoppers, caps and lids (including crown corks, screw caps and pouring stoppers), capsules for bottles, threaded bungs, bung covers, seals and other packing accessories, of base metal. Pilfer proof caps for packaging, all sorts, with or without washers or other fittings, of cork, rubber, polyethylene or any other material. Other seals of tin plate and tin free steel.

However, it excludes steel and steel products intended for export that adhere to foreign specifications.

The specified goods and articles must be manufactured using tin plate and tin free steel as input materials. The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for compliance with this Order.

Violation of any provision of this Order is subject to penalty under section 29 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
