BIS QCO for the Ceramic Tiles, Sanitary Wares, and Laboratory Wares (Vitreous Sanitary Appliances (Vitreous China) ― Specific Requirements of Wall Mounted Bidets)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued the "Ceramic Tiles, Sanitary Wares, and Laboratory Wares (Quality Control) Order, 2023," slated to come into effect on the specified date.

Under this order, goods or articles falling under the category of Ceramic Tiles, Sanitary Wares, and Laboratory Wares are required to conform to the corresponding Indian Standard 2556 (Part 17) :2001, specifically addressing Vitreous Sanitary Appliances (Vitreous China) ― Specific Requirements of Wall Mounted Bidets. These goods must bear the Standard Mark under a license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme I of Schedule II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

An exemption is granted for goods or articles intended for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for the standards related to Ceramic Tiles, Sanitary Wares, and Laboratory Wares.

Any person found contravening the provisions of this order is subject to punishment under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

This regulatory measure aims to ensure the quality and conformity of Ceramic Tiles, Sanitary Wares, and Laboratory Wares in the market, promoting standardized practices for the benefit of consumers and the industry.
