Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Acid Oil Amendment Order, 2024.
BIS (Quality Control) Amendment Order for the Acid Oil
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has introduced the Acid Oil (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, which amends the Acid Oil (Quality Control) Order, 2022.
This amendment is scheduled to come into effect on October 24, 2024.
The scope of this order is to regulate goods or articles containing Acid Oil, excluding those intended for export.
To ensure compliance, Acid Oil products must meet the relevant Indian Standard IS 12029:1986 and bear the Standard Mark. This requires obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-I outlined in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The certifying and enforcing authority for Acid Oil products under this order is the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Penalties for contravention of this order will be imposed by the relevant Act, affecting any person found in violation.
