Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Coconut Fatty Acids Amendment Order, 2024.

BIS (Quality Control) Amendment Order for the Coconut Fatty Acids

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has introduced the Coconut Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, amending the Coconut Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Order, 2022.

This amendment is set to become effective on October 24, 2024.

The order applies to goods or articles containing Coconut Fatty Acids, excluding those intended for export.

To ensure compliance, products related to Coconut Fatty Acids must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 12069:1987 and display the Standard Mark. This requires obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-I as detailed in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The certifying and enforcing authority for products covered by this order, specifically Coconut Fatty Acids, is the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Any individual found in contravention of the provisions of this order will be subject to penalties as per the relevant Act.
