Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for Toluene Second Amendment (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
BIS Second Amendment for Toluene
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued the Toluene Second Amendment (Quality Control) Order, 2020, which will be effective from December 22, 2024.
This order pertains to goods or articles involving Toluene and is designed to ensure quality standards. However, it does not apply to goods or articles intended for export.
Goods or articles falling under Toluene must adhere to the prescribed Indian Standard IS 537:2011 and bear the Standard Mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018
The Bureau serves as the certifying and enforcing authority for Toluene-related goods or articles.
Any individual violating the provisions of this order will be subject to punishment as stipulated under the relevant Act.
NOTE: Any person who violates the provisions of this order will be punished in accordance with the provisions of the BIS Act, 2016.
